GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NEW JERSEY — The New Jersey Civil Service Commission voted 3-2 on February 25 to uphold the firing of former Gloucester County morgue assistant Connor McGlynn for sharing private notes about two crash victims. McGlynn was originally fired on September 23, 2024, following an incident involving confidential information about Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

On August 29, 2024, McGlynn texted a photo of his private notes about the Gaudreau brothers to his hockey teammates. A member of the group chat posted the photo on X and Reddit without McGlynn knowing. The leaked image revealed birth dates, home addresses, crash details, information about the victims, and the responding trooper's cellphone number.

The commission's ruling stated that "McGlynn had no explanation for why he would send the picture in the text, other than that he was in disbelief and acted out of emotion." McGlynn had worked as an assistant at the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office before his termination.

According to court filings, Sean Higgins, 45, is accused of fatally crashing into Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau while they were riding bikes single-file on the shoulder of a road in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on August 29, 2024. The crash occurred the same day McGlynn sent the text message containing his notes about the victims.

The New Jersey Commission held a hearing on February 25 before making its decision to uphold McGlynn's termination.
