HOLLYWOOD — Musician Billy Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens were inducted into Guitar Center's Hollywood Rockwalk on a Tuesday in 2026. This induction followed Idol's receipt of the American Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in May 2026.

Idol was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier in 2026, with the induction ceremony scheduled for later in the year. "I began in 1976 so it is 50 years! It is kind of a fantastic thing that a lot of these honors are happening this year," Idol said.

Stevens and Idol have collaborated for nearly 45 years. "The more you have this kind of symbiotic friendship, you can translate it into the music. And the music gets better, the songs get better and it means so much to our audience," Stevens said.

Guitar Center CEO Gabe Dalporto remarked on the establishment of the Rockwalk. "We created the Rockwalk at a time when there was no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And we wanted to recognize people who were making a lasting impact on music," Dalporto said. He added that the inductees brought new genres to the forefront. "They really changed how you experience music, they brought new genres to the forefront and we thought they were well deserving of the honor," he said.

Idol, born William Broad, began his career in the U.K. punk rock scene in the 1970s with the band Generation X. After the band released three albums and disbanded, Idol moved to New York City and started collaborating with Stevens.

Their first album, "Billy Idol," achieved commercial success with songs like "White Wedding" and "Dancing With Myself." Their second album, "Rebel Yell," featured tracks such as "Rebel Yell," "Flesh for Fantasy" and "Eyes Without a Face." Idol has since released nine additional albums and published an autobiography titled "Dancing With Myself" in 2014. A documentary titled "Billy Idol Should Be Dead" is available for streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

Idol is currently working on new music, anticipated for release in 2027. "I'm still here doing it. I still enjoy doing it," Idol said.
