Meta announced a new line of artificial intelligence glasses designed by the company that will start at a price of US$299. The glasses will launch with the Muse Spark model, an AI model that Meta states improves the glasses' ability to extract details from photos and remember personal preferences.

This new line represents a shift from previous co-branded glasses Meta launched with Ray-Ban and Oakley, which are owned by EssilorLuxottica. The company continues to collaborate with EssilorLuxottica on certain aspects of the new glasses, such as the lenses, and still sells Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses models. Previous Meta glasses models will receive the Muse Spark model through a software update.

The new Meta glasses are available in three styles: a small frame called Adventurer, a larger and slightly rounded frame called Fury, and an oval model called Meta Glasses by Kylie. The oval model was designed by Kylie Jenner, and it features a custom bell sound that plays when a user puts on the glasses. The standard Meta AI voice on this model can be replaced by an AI-generated version based on Jenner's voice. The glasses can play music, translate languages, and answer questions about a person's surroundings by capturing images with their cameras.

Andrew Bosworth, Chief Technology Officer of Meta, discussed the pricing strategy. "Realmente quieres poder estar en muchos lugares en el mercado, por lo que llegar a las personas no se trata solamente del diseño y estilo, también se trata del punto de precio," Bosworth said. All Meta smart glasses include an LED light that indicates when the cameras are recording. Meta's website states that the camera will not function unless this LED light is on. "Es un juego del gato y el ratón con personas que son actores malintencionados," Bosworth said. "Intentamos asegurarnos de que estamos haciendo todo lo que podemos generacionalmente para seguir mejorando, asegurándonos de que la luz sea el indicador en el que los espectadores pueden confiar para entender lo que está sucediendo en las gafas."

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated in an April earnings call that the number of people using Meta smart glasses daily has tripled year over year. According to IDC, smart glasses shipments increased by 167% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. The International Data Corporation expects the average selling price of smart glasses to decrease from US$376 in 2026 to US$229 in 2030. According to IDC, Meta holds 69.2% of the smart glasses market.
