MEMPHIS — Tay Keith, a 29-year-old music producer, was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18 during a welfare check by police. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department stated that no foul play is suspected, and the cause remains under investigation.

Drumatized released a statement from Tay Keith's family confirming his death. His birth name was Brytavious Lakeith Chambers. "While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious — a source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance," the family stated. He grew up in South Memphis before moving to East Memphis during his early teenage years and earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018.

Tay Keith co-founded Drumatized Music Group, a Memphis-based record label and creative collective, with manager Cambrian Strong. He produced several songs, including the 2018 track "Look Alive" featuring Drake, Drake's "Nonstop," Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode," and Eminem's "Not Alike." He also produced "Never Recover" by Lil Baby and Gunna. His collaborations included work with artists such as Beyoncé, Cardi B, Future, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Chris Brown, and AJ Tracey.

Keith earned Grammy nominations for his work on "Sicko Mode" and Drake and 21 Savage's "Rich Flex." Broadcast Music, Inc. named him producer of the year in 2024. He and Cambrian Strong were included on the Forbes "30 Under 30: Music" list. Producer Ramone Taylor stated, "His tag signaled the start of so many heavy hitters, becoming one of the most recognizable sounds in the music industry." Taylor added, "Tay Keith made Memphis sound global. Every time you heard that tag, you knew somebody from our city was influencing the culture. That's a legacy that won't be forgotten."
