BUENOS AIRES — Bear Grey Payne, the 9-year-old son of Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole, was named the sole beneficiary of Liam Payne's US$29 million estate. The majority of the estate funds are designated to remain in a trust until Bear Grey Payne reaches 18 years of age.

Cheryl Cole and Richard Bray were appointed as administrators of Liam Payne's estate in May 2025. Liam Payne died on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31, after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires' Palermo neighborhood.

Toxicology tests conducted after Payne's death determined that he had consumed alcohol, cocaine, and an antidepressant. Authorities concluded that Payne's fall was not intentional because he did not assume a reflexive posture to protect himself.

Payne died from polytrauma with internal and external hemorrhaging. The Argentine Prosecutor's Office stated that his injuries were consistent with those resulting from falls from a height. The prosecutor's office also ruled out self-inflicted injuries or injuries caused by third parties in Payne's death.

Court documents confirm the designation of Bear Grey Payne as the sole beneficiary. The estate valuation of US$29 million was established during the probate process initiated following the singer's death in Argentina.

The appointment of Cole and Bray as administrators occurred eight months after the incident. Their role involves managing the assets held in trust for the minor beneficiary until he reaches the age of majority.

Investigation records indicate that the toxicology findings included the presence of multiple substances in Payne's system at the time of the fall. The absence of defensive wounds or reflexive posturing led authorities to determine the fall was unplanned.

Autopsy results cited polytrauma and hemorrhaging as the cause of death. Officials from the Argentine Prosecutor's Office maintained that the physical evidence aligned with an accidental fall from the hotel window, excluding scenarios involving third-party intervention or self-harm.
