UK — Baby banks in the UK supported 400,000 children in 2025, an 11% increase from 2024. Research from the Baby Bank Alliance found that each member supported an average of 1,096 children daily.

The Baby Bank Alliance, which Save the Children UK established, represents over 400 baby banks across the UK. These organizations distributed 26% more tubs of baby formula in 2025 compared to 2024. The UK government abolished the two-child benefit limit earlier in 2025; this limit previously restricted universal credit support to the first two children in a family.

Sophie Livingstone, chair of the Baby Bank Alliance, said, "It's pretty damning, isn't it? Families are needing help for systemic reasons, not because there's a one-off shock to their lives." Livingstone also serves as the chief executive of Little Village, a London-based baby bank network. She stated that 75% of families supported by Alliance members cited unsuitable or insecure housing as a pressure they faced.

Livingstone said, "Baby banks are doing everything they can to provide a crucial safety net and stop families from falling through the cracks, but charities alone cannot continue to absorb the impact of child poverty on this scale." North-west England has the highest number of families supported by baby banks in the UK, excluding London and the south-east. The Little Lighthouse baby bank in Wythenshawe, Manchester, provides clothes, books, and toys. Nappies, toiletries, and baby formula are distributed on a referral basis.

The Rev Caroline Hewitt established the Little Lighthouse baby bank in September 2019. She noted that "We've had families who won't miss their referral, which is new." Laura, a visitor to Little Lighthouse for nearly three years, said she and her partner volunteer there. She said they would not want to have another child "knowing that we'd struggle financially."
