HARTFORD, CT — Olivia Rodrigo's album "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Released on June 12, the album entered the chart with 485,000 equivalent album units for the week ending June 18.

This marks the largest sales week of Rodrigo's career and the biggest week for any album by a soloist in 2026. It was the only album to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for the week. The album was available in 15 physical variants, with vinyl purchases accounting for 164,000 units, the largest week for the format by a woman in 2026. The record contains 13 tracks and features a duet with Robert Smith.

Rodrigo released the singles "Drop Dead" and "The Cure" prior to the album's full release; "Drop Dead" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rodrigo said, "I am so proud of this record, and I can't wait for you to hear it." She also stated, "No matter how hard I try to write love songs they always come out laced with a little melancholy."

Rodrigo's previous albums also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. "Sour" topped the chart in 2021 with 295,000 equivalent album units, while "Guts" reached No. 1 in 2023 with 302,000 equivalent album units. Chris Willman, a music writer, said of Rodrigo, "Her ability to explore the full arc of a relationship this well — complete with a bit of foreshadowing in the more cheerful numbers — is still more proof of what a serious talent she is, above and beyond her angelic vocal stacking and perfectly pretty snarl."
