TUCSON, ARIZONA — Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona. The FBI and local law enforcement launched a joint investigation after Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, 2026, when she failed to attend a virtual church service at a friend's house, according to authorities.

Guthrie was last seen around 9:45 p.m. on January 31, 2026, after eating dinner at her daughter Annie Guthrie's home, according to authorities. Authorities believed that Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her ranch-style home just outside Tucson, Arizona, in the middle of the night, according to authorities.

The back doors of the residence were propped open, there was blood on the front doorstep, and the Ring doorbell camera had been yanked off. Authorities released footage from a doorbell camera showing a masked, armed individual tampering with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's home.

The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's safe return. More than 13,000 tips have been received by the FBI since the doorbell footage was released.

The family received multiple ransom notes after Guthrie's disappearance. Camron Guthrie, a military veteran and Nancy Guthrie's son, said, "I think she's been kidnapped for ransom." Savannah Guthrie said she believes the two ransom notes the family responded to are genuine.

Arizona officials have cleared all members of the Guthrie family as possible suspects. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said, "The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel."

Investigators have not publicly identified a suspect or a motive in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, according to authorities. Initially, the family thought Guthrie might have suffered a medical episode and paramedics had come to the home.

Savannah Guthrie, a television journalist, gave her first interview since her mother's disappearance to Hoda Kotb. She said, "And someone can do the right thing. And it is never too late to do the right thing. And our hearts are focused on that."
