SEOUL — Netflix has released the 14-episode series "My Royal Nemesis." The series features Lim Ji-yeon as Joseon-era royal concubine Kang Dan-shim and modern-day struggling actress Shin Seo-ri. Heo Nam-jun plays Cha Se-gye, a chaebol heir associated with The Chail Group, while Jang Seung-jo appears as Choi Mun-do, Cha Se-gye's cousin.

In the series, Kang Dan-shim's soul is transported to modern-day Seoul, occupying the body of Shin Seo-ri after both experienced near-death drownings as children. The souls of Cha Se-gye and Choi Mun-do are connected to Yi Heon, also known as Grand Prince Cheongheon, and Yi Jae, also known as King Anjong, respectively. Shin Seo-ri, living as Kang Dan-shim, was forced to drink poison by King Anjong's order.

Cha Se-gye is stabbed by one of Choi Mun-do's hired hands. A shaman advises Shin Seo-ri that returning to the Joseon era is necessary for Cha Se-gye's survival. Shin Seo-ri's soul travels back to the Joseon era, where she aids Yi Heon in an escape. She takes an arrow for Yi Heon, and they both fall from a cliff into a river. The narrative features Yi Heon's journal, returned to Korea by the British Museum, and a Joseon-era portrait painted by Yi Heon, displayed at The Seoul Museum of History.

After Shin Seo-ri's return to the Joseon era, Cha Se-gye awakens in a hospital in modern-day Seoul, while Shin Seo-ri enters a coma. Yi Heon and Kang Dan-shim survive their fall from the cliff in the Joseon era. Choi Mun-do, who had paid a nurse to poison Cha Se-gye, is imprisoned after Shin Seo-ri and Cha Se-gye collaborate with police to confirm his involvement in the nurse's death. Shin Seo-ri's soul eventually returns to her body in modern-day Seoul. Snow falls when Shin Seo-ri and Cha Se-gye reunite. Cha Se-gye remains in line to become the next CEO of The Chail Group.
