PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles placed defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka on the reserve/retired list on June 16, 2026, marking his retirement from the NFL. Tryon-Shoyinka had signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on March 30, 2026.

Tryon-Shoyinka was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 32nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after playing three seasons at the University of Washington. He spent four seasons with the Buccaneers, recording 15.0 sacks in 66 games with 45 starts. He recorded four sacks in each of his first two seasons and five sacks in the 2023 season, which was his career best. The Buccaneers declined to pick up his fifth-year option during the 2024 offseason.

In the 2024 season, Tryon-Shoyinka recorded two sacks in 15 games with 11 starts. He signed with the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 offseason and played eight games for the team. During the 2025 season, he was traded from the Browns to the Chicago Bears, where he also played eight games. He did not register a sack in either eight-game stint.

Tryon-Shoyinka did not play in the Chicago Bears' two postseason games in 2025. Over his NFL career, he recorded 160 tackles, 15 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 82 games and 45 starts. He is 27 years old.

The Buccaneers' 2021 draft class, which included Kyle Trask, Robert Hainsey, Jaelon Darden, KJ Britt, C.J. Wilcox, and Grant Stuard in addition to Tryon-Shoyinka, currently has no players remaining on their roster. Brandon Johnson, an undrafted rookie, made the Eagles' practice squad in the previous offseason and was elevated to the game day roster three times late in the 2025 campaign.
