LOS ANGELES — Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will take a two-month break from his ABC program, beginning the week of July 6. Rosie O'Donnell will serve as one of several guest hosts during his absence.

Tiffany Haddish will be the first guest host. Other hosts will include Anthony Anderson, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, and Jelly Roll. Kimmel addressed his hiatus on air, stating, "I hope you're paying attention this summer, because I will be taking the next two months off — this time voluntarily." He also commented on O'Donnell's upcoming appearance, saying, "And as a special treat for our commander in chief, I asked one of his all-time favorites, Rosie O'Donnell, to be here to keep the hits coming."

Last year, Kimmel's show was pulled from the air for nearly a week following his September 15 broadcast, during which he criticized some Republicans for their response to the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. He returned to air on September 23, and that episode drew more than 6 million total viewers. Kimmel commented on his previous absence, stating, "You understand it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don't think there's anything funny about it."

In February, O'Donnell returned to the U.S. for a two-week period to visit her family. She stated, "I recently went home for two weeks and I did not really tell anyone. I just went to see my family."
