SAN ANTONIO — A shooting occurred around noon on June 19, 2026, in the 100 block of Red Hawk Ridge near Hardy Oak Boulevard in San Antonio. San Antonio Police Department officers found a male suspect dead inside a residence in the Stone Oak neighborhood after 3 p.m. on the same day.

Police reported that the man killed a woman identified as his estranged wife. A responding police officer was shot in the lower abdomen as officers approached the barricaded suspect. The injured officer underwent surgery on June 19, 2026, and medical personnel expect him to recover.

Two children, ages 8 and 12, were present in the home during the shooting. The department confirmed the children were safe and unharmed as of the evening of June 19, 2026. Police stated it is unclear whether the suspect is the father of the two children.

The suspect used a pistol to shoot through glass doors to enter the home, according to William McManus, Chief of Police. "The man had a pistol and turned the gun on himself." Chief McManus said. Investigators determined the suspect did not reside at the address where the incident occurred.
