HOUSTON — A Harris County family court maintained the current child custody arrangements and issued a new gag order on Thursday. Lee Gilley is currently in Italy after he removed his ankle monitor and left the country using a false name and travel documents while out on a $1 million bond.

Property records indicate the deed for his residence on Allston Street was transferred to Matthew J. Jackson and Save A Life Homes LLC two days after the Harris County District Attorney's Office executed a search warrant at the home in May. Attorneys confirmed that Italian authorities have received a formal U.S. extradition request for Gilley. Police officers responded to a trespasser call at the residence at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday. The District Attorney's Office referred the incident to the constable's office, classifying it as a civil dispute.

Chris Bauer, Christa Bauer's father, testified that family members visited the residence on Wednesday night and found it appeared occupied. He stated that he visited the property on May 13 and observed no residents. "It was shocking." Bauer said. The Bauers retain ownership of half of the property.

Judge Angela Lancelin ruled to maintain the current custody arrangements for Gilley's children. Attorneys for Christa Bauer's family requested that court-ordered visitation with Gilley's relatives be paused due to Gilley's escape. Attorneys for the Gilley family argued that relatives maintaining contact with the children have not posed a safety threat. "There was no evidence to the court that showed Matt Gilley has done anything to threaten the safety of the children or act in concert with others to seek removal of the children." Lancelin said. Gilley's children reside in South Carolina with their maternal grandparents.
