SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio will close City Hall and most municipal offices on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth. Nonessential federal, state, and city government offices will also be closed.
Public safety and emergency services, including police officers and fire and emergency medical services personnel, will remain operational on June 19. The municipal court magistration services and detention center will be open. Animal Care Officers will be on duty, and Code Enforcement Officers will be available for emergency coverage.
The 3-1-1 Call Center will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 19. From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the same day, the center will handle urgent animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions. Additionally, on-street parking meters in downtown San Antonio will be free, though off-street city-operated parking garages and lots are excluded from this holiday parking policy.
Scheduled recycling, organics recycling, and garbage collection will occur as normal on June 19. However, the Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be closed. All four Bulky Waste drop-off centers, the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off center, and the Bitters Brush site will also be closed.
The Central Library and all public library locations will be closed. Community centers, adult and senior centers, recreation facilities, tennis centers, fitness centers, sports complexes, health clinics, and administrative city department offices will not be open. The Darner Headquarters and Park Reservations Office will also be closed.
Certain facilities will maintain regular operations or offer limited services. The Pre-K 4 SA South Center and infant and toddler classrooms will be open for summer programming. The Spanish Governors’ Palace and World Heritage Center will be open, as will city parks, trails, and shops at La Villita and Market Square. Preseason city pools will operate from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 19, weather permitting.
