ATLANTA — South Africa and the Czech Republic played to a 1-1 draw in their FIFA World Cup Group A match in Atlanta. This result earned one point for each team in the tournament standings.

Michal Sadílek scored a goal for the Czech Republic in the sixth minute of the match. The play originated with Adam Hlozek crossing the ball to Aleksandr Sojka, who then passed it to Sadílek for the score. Their goalkeeper Ronwen Williams caught a header attempt by Patrik Schick in the first minute of the match. Williams also saved a second-half header attempt from Schick.
