CHATTANOOGA — Blue Cross Blue Shield is investing $4.8 million to construct Pavilion Park on the Finley Stadium campus in Chattanooga. This new public facility will feature play areas, a bouldering area, a dog park, a sports turf space, shaded seating, and an open-air gymnasium.
Pavilion Park is expected to open in late 2027 and will be free to enter year-round. A covering will be installed over the existing skating rink, and a promenade will be built alongside the pavilion, including public parking and restrooms.
Finley Stadium has received $3.5 million in support from the city of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, the state of Tennessee, EPB, TVA, and The Stadium Corporation. Additionally, a $553,990 state grant and city funding supported recent facility maintenance projects.
Completed upgrades at the stadium include reroofing the concessions area, repairing parking lot potholes, installing weapons detection units, and purchasing a scissor lift and utility vehicle. A new audio system was also installed for the field, spectator stands, and First Horizon Pavilion. The stadium also received a video board upgrade, exterior building caulking, garage door replacements, and improved lighting in the north concourse bay. Skate and dog park renovations are currently underway.
First Horizon Pavilion served as a rain alternative for three Nightfall concert events this summer. Stadium officials are evaluating the covered pavilion space for hosting additional musical performances. Brian Wright serves as the Executive Director of Finley Stadium.
No independent assessment of Finley Stadium’s claims was available.
