FORT BEND COUNTY — A jury found Fort Bend County Judge KP George guilty on two counts of money laundering on March 20. The charges stemmed from allegations that campaign funds were moved through personal accounts.
George is suspended from his judicial office. The money laundering charges are classified as third-degree felonies under Texas law, carrying a potential sentence ranging from probation to 10 years in prison, in addition to a fine of up to $10,000.
"Money laundering charges can apply when funds obtained through unlawful activity are moved or transferred in a way that conceals their origin or nature," said special prosecutor Brian Wice, who served in the case. George has maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings. A sentencing hearing for the case is scheduled for June 16, 2026, where the presiding judge will determine his sentence. Texas law allows a defendant to elect whether a jury or a judge determines punishment. George is expected to have the right to appeal his conviction.
