AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK — Donald Trump endorsed Anthony Constantino for Congress in New York's 21st Congressional District. Constantino is competing against Robert Smullen in the Republican primary election scheduled for June 23, 2026.

Trump stated, "Anthony is strongly supported by many of the most Highly Respected MAGA Warriors in our Movement, including Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Roger Stone! The sign is still there!" Constantino owns a printing company named Sticker Mule in Amsterdam, New York, which has a "Vote for Trump" sign on its roof. Constantino previously produced a hip-hop album titled "Thank you President Trump" and presented Trump with a bronze statue of him at a golf course in West Palm Beach.

Constantino labeled Smullen a "Trump hater" and used the nickname "Slimebob." Constantino stated, "The New York GOP is a failing establishment, it’s a losing establishment. They reject outsiders. This happened with Donald Trump." Constantino explained his support for Trump, stating, "I’ve always had his back through the whole thing. In fact, in 2020, when he nicely exited the White House and a terrible person named Joe Biden entered, I went and I supported the president quietly by buying a Mar-a-Lago membership." Voter registration records within New York's 21st Congressional District show 215,000 registered Republicans and 134,000 registered Democrats. Constantino was previously registered as a Democrat.

Smullen is a New York state assembly member and a former U.S. Marine Corps colonel who completed 24 years of military service with three deployments to Afghanistan. He has served over seven years in the New York state Legislature. Trump appointed Smullen to the White House Fellows program in 2018. Smullen stated, "I think I directly represent the vast majority of the people in this district, their values, what they think about issues." He also addressed Constantino's claims, saying, "The idea that I have never been a supporter of President Donald Trump is a lie, it really is. And what’s happening here is that if you say it long enough and if you say it hard enough then it’s going to be true. But it’s not true."

The chair of the New York state Republican Party supports Smullen's congressional campaign. The New York state Conservative Party also supports Smullen's campaign and will provide him with a ballot line in the general election. New York's 21st Congressional District includes the Adirondack Mountains and the U.S. Army base at Fort Drum.
