CHATTANOOGA — River City Company provided updates on the $50 million Riverfront Parks Next redevelopment project near Ross's Landing during its 40th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

To date, over $13 million has been raised in a non-public campaign toward a $25 million fundraising goal. The state government has pledged $15 million, and both the city and county governments have each pledged $5 million. The fundraising campaign is being led by former U.S. Senator Bob Corker, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, and Ward Davenport.

Construction is projected to begin in the fall of 2026 and finish by summer 2028. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for November 2028. Emily Mack, CEO and president of River City Company, stated that construction will not commence until the full funding amount is secured.

The project plans include two new restaurants, sports courts, public art, restrooms, and spaces for food-and-beverage kiosks. An improved pier with infrastructure for waterfront recreation and programming is also part of the design. PlayCore will design a signature play structure, native trees, and seating.

Mack noted the area receives very little daily or local use and required support from government leaders, corporations, philanthropy, and donors to accomplish the goal.

"As North America's first National Park City, Chattanooga has a collective commitment to prioritize our parks and outdoor experiences. I appreciate River City Company for leading this initiative by honoring our past and creating a vibrant space for people to enjoy," Kelly said.

"Building on the reasons people have gathered for centuries on the banks of the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Riverfront Parks Next honors the legacy of Ross's Landing while creating a world-class experience for families and visitors alike," Wamp said.
