CHENNAI — AIADMK Deputy General Secretary KP Munusamy dismissed as “completely false” claims that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay sought a meeting with AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He stated that neither Vijay, his office, nor anyone from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leadership had made such a request.
The comments were a response to an allegation by TVK leader CTR Nirmal Kumar, who claimed Vijay was denied a meeting with Palaniswami. Munusamy rejected the assertion outright, emphasizing that no outreach had occurred from the chief minister’s side.
Munusamy questioned the political logic behind any potential meeting, asking whom Vijay would have met had he not criticized AIADMK icons M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa. He described Vijay as a “good learner” who lacks political depth and attributed the chief minister’s electoral success to social media curation, including Instagram reels and cinematic narratives.
He contrasted TVK’s online presence with AIADMK’s organizational strength, asserting that the party maintains active grassroots units even in remote villages. Munusamy also stated that AIADMK governed Tamil Nadu for over three decades and maintained its distinct character while allying with national parties.
“Chief Minister Vijay needs to remember he is now the head of the state government, not a film star. People around him may applaud, but he must understand how many are unhappy with his approach.” He advised Vijay to govern with greater responsibility and affection toward the people and affirmed that the political movement founded by Ramachandran and strengthened by Jayalalithaa is now being carried forward by Palaniswami.
No independent assessment of KP Munusamy’s claims was available.
