CLONTARF — Ireland moved to the top of the Women's T20I Tri-Nation Series table after securing a one-run win over West Indies via the DLS method in the fourth match at Clontarf on Wednesday. Rain halted play before Ireland could complete their chase, but the hosts were declared winners after finishing one run ahead of the DLS par score at the time play was stopped.

West Indies, asked to bat first, posted 141 for 8 in their 20 overs. Their innings began poorly as Ava Canning removed Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph early, helping reduce the visitors to 53 for 5. Stafanie Taylor retired hurt on nine during the collapse. A 44-run partnership between Shemaine Campbelle (21) and Jannillea Glasgow (36) revived the innings, while Orla Prendergast returned figures of 2 for 26, claiming the late wickets of Aaliyah Alleyne and Zaida James.

In reply, Ireland’s chase started disastrously as Shawnisha Hector struck twice in the opening over, leaving the hosts two wickets down immediately. The situation worsened as Ireland slipped to 5 for 109 in 10.3 overs. However, Prendergast anchored the innings with an unbeaten 71 off 46 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six. Her knock accounted for nearly 72 per cent of Ireland’s runs.

Prendergast added a crucial sixth-wicket stand with Louise Little, who scored five runs from her first seven deliveries before producing a boundary at the start of the 15th over. That shot took Ireland to 99 for 5 after 14.1 overs, moving them past the DLS par score of 98. Rain then interrupted play and the match could not be resumed, confirming Ireland’s narrow victory.

The win marked Ireland’s first-ever T20I triumph over West Indies. Both teams now hold two wins from three matches in the series, while Pakistan remain without a victory after two games. Ireland will next face Pakistan at Clontarf on Thursday.
