DOWNTOWN HOUSTON — A box truck flew off Interstate 10 and landed near the entrance ramp from Travis Street to Interstate 45 North in downtown Houston early Wednesday morning, according to Houston police and firefighters. The driver of the box truck is okay, Houston police said.
Houston police and Houston Fire Department crews responded to the crash scene near the I-10/I-45 interchange in downtown Houston. The entrance ramp from Travis Street onto I-45 North near the University of Houston-Downtown has been closed since before 5 a.m., causing traffic delays in the downtown area.
Texas Department of Transportation crews remained on scene checking for possible roadway damage and helping clear the crash near the I-10/I-45 interchange, according to TxDOT. Crews are also assessing whether the box truck will need to be offloaded before it can be removed, officials said.
TxDOT said there is no definitive timeline for when the crash scene will fully reopen. The agency said it is continuing to monitor the roadway for possible structural damage resulting from the crash.
Drivers heading through downtown Houston should expect delays as emergency crews continue working the scene. The I-10/I-45 interchange is a major connector in the downtown Houston highway system, and the closure of the Travis Street entrance ramp to I-45 North is affecting traffic movement through the area, according to TxDOT.

No additional injuries were reported in connection with the crash, Houston police said. Emergency crews remained on scene as of early Wednesday morning, working to clear the truck and restore access to the affected ramp.
