OAHU'S NORTH SHORE — A severe storm that hit Hawaii on Friday caused the worst flooding Oahu has seen in 20 years, forcing actor Jason Momoa and his family to evacuate their North Shore home after losing power. The dangerous weather also forced the actor to cancel a music event planned for the weekend.
Floodwater forced mass evacuations near the Wahiawa Dam, which was under imminent threat of collapse. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi confirmed at a news conference on Friday that over 230 people had been rescued. Hawaii Governor Josh Green reported on Saturday via X that there had been no casualties so far.
Momoa, who was born in Honolulu, shared footage of flooding near his father's home on Instagram and asked his followers to stay safe. "The conditions on the North Shore are knarly," Momoa said.
"It's showing up for each other when it matters most," Momoa said.
